Winter Weather Statement
Issued: 3:57 AM CST Jan. 17, 2020 – National Weather Service

... Winter Storm Warning now in effect until 9 PM CST this
... Blizzard Warning in effect from 9 PM this evening to 3 PM CST

* what... for the Winter Storm Warning, snow accumulations of 3 to
5 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze. Winds gusting
as high as 45 mph. For the Blizzard Warning, blizzard conditions
expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch. Winds
gusting as high as 50 mph.

* Where... Beadle, Sanborn, Hanson and Hutchinson counties.

* When... for the Winter Storm Warning, until 9 PM CST this
evening. For the Blizzard Warning, from 9 PM this evening to 3
PM CST Saturday.

* Impacts... plan on slippery Road conditions. Areas of blowing
snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty
winds could bring down tree branches. The cold wind chills as
low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in
as little as 30 minutes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must
travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded,
stay with your vehicle.

Flood Warning
Issued: 9:03 AM CST Jan. 14, 2020 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the James River near Forestburg.
* Until further notice.
* At 08am Tuesday the stage was 13.41 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 12.00 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue to slowly fall.
* At stages near 14.0 feet... many of the County and township roads
along the river are under water.
