... Winter Storm Warning now in effect from 8 am this morning to
6 am CST Saturday...
... Blizzard Warning in effect from 6 am to 6 PM CST Saturday...

* what... for the Winter Storm Warning, total snow accumulations of
4 to 7 inches with ice accumulations of a light glaze. Winds 25
to 30 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph. For the Blizzard Warning
on Saturday, widespread blowing snow and near zero visibility
will occur with the blizzard conditions. Winds gusts will reach
45 to 50 mph.

* Where... portions of south central, southwest and west central
Minnesota. Generally along and west of a line from Glenwood to
Willmar to New Ulm to Fairmont.

* When... for the Winter Storm Warning, from 8 am this morning to
6 am CST Saturday. For the Blizzard Warning, from 6 am to 6 PM
CST Saturday.

* Impacts... travel could be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow
could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions
could impact the morning or evening commute. Wind chills on
Saturday will drop as low as 30 below zero which could cause
frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. If you get stranded, stay
with your vehicle.
